There are two national parks in Meghalaya:
- Nokrek National Park is located in the West Garo Hills district and is home to a variety of plants and animals, including the endangered red panda. The park is also known for its stunning waterfalls and caves.
- Balpakram National Park is located in the South Garo Hills district and is home to a variety of plants and animals, including the endangered Asian elephant. The park is also known for its beautiful scenery, including the Balpakram River and the Nokrek Peak.
Meghalaya is also home to four wildlife sanctuaries and one biosphere reserve. The wildlife sanctuaries are:
- Siju Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the West Garo Hills district and is home to a variety of birds, including the hornbill. The sanctuary is also known for its beautiful scenery, including the Siju River and the Nokrek Peak.
- Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Ri Bhoi district and is home to a variety of animals, including the clouded leopard. The sanctuary is also known for its beautiful scenery, including the Nongkhyllem Falls.
- Nongkhylllem Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Ri Bhoi district and is home to a variety of animals, including the Clouded Leopard. The Sanctuary is also known for its Beautiful Scenery, including the Nongkhylllem Falls.
