Telangana is home to three national parks:
- Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park: Located in the Mahbubnagar district, this park is spread over an area of 155 sq km. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, panthers, sloth bears, elephants, hyenas, wild boars, sambar deer, chital deer, and bison. The park also has a rich avifauna, with over 250 species of birds recorded, including the Malabar pied hornbill, the rufous-necked hornbill, and the Indian peafowl.
- Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park: Spread over an area of 167 sq km in the Khammam district, this park is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, gaur, sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boars, jackals, and leopards. The park also has a rich avifauna, with over 200 species of birds recorded, including the Indian grey hornbill, the racket-tailed drongo, and the purple-rumped sunbird.
- Mrugavani National Park: Located in the Nagarkurnool district, this park covers an area of 46.7 sq km. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, gaur, sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boars, jackals, and sloth bears. The park also has a rich avifauna, with over 150 species of birds recorded, including the painted stork, the Indian peafowl, and the white-breasted kingfisher.
